Great Black and White Photographers (Part 3)
Ansel Adams
The thing that first caught my eye about Adams' pictures was the perspective he shot with for all of his landscape photos. I mainly wanted to choose them because I love the type of photos that capture landscape and nature because I think they look amazing.
Ansel Adams' "El Capitan"
When I look at this photo I can imagine turning my head and seeing all the trees surrounding while I smell the pine and pollen, for there is no way to avoid that earthy smell and there is no way to smell gas from cars or smoke from people smoking. I can feel the somehow soft, but rough, grass under my feet and if I were to touch the dirt it would feel soft. I hear the birds chirping as well as the crickets and there is nothing here that wants to or will stop the lively sound. I can taste the freshness and lack of pollution around me and I hope the taste stays with me forever.
Ansel Adams' "Mount McKinley"
When I look at this photo I can imagine tasting the cold air and reaching up to touch the clouds. If I were to look around I would be surrounded by these enormous mountains, but there's one that draws my eye and hats the giant, Mount McKinley. I would hike up the side feeling the cold snow burn my feet making me want to move faster. After I finally reach the top I can smell the fresh, cold air and see the world curve. My eardrums feeling as if they are about to burst from all the wind rushing past my face. I can feel the freedom up here.
3: The best way to share this photographer with others would probably be through social media because that has the majority of everyone hooked.

The Best Story
This photo's story is this kid volunteering to be part of an experiment than the teacher putting something in his hand and just lighting it up. That's what I see when I see this photo and I think it is pretty cool. I also like how this photo emphasizes the flame and shot the flame at the perfect moment.
Action & Emotion
The girl in the photo looks so happy and is running. You can also see everyone in the photo with a big smile and swinging the tarp up. The other girl looks more scared, but she looks happy-ish too.
Filling the Frame
I chose this photo for filling the frame because if you look around the photo you can see a lot. You can see the animal dissection, the students observing, and the teacher explaining the dissection. No matter where you look you can see something in this photo.
_______________________________2012 Winners__________________________________
I chose this photo because I like the action going on, and the experiment draws my eyes. Balance is definitely the main rule showing here, and there is rule of thirds because the subjects aren't directly in the middle.
I also chose this photo because I like the action and how everything is focused on the reaction. This photo mainly follows is framing because of the setup, rules of thirds, and it avoided bad border mergers.
3. I think I could find these type of photos at science classes.
4. I think I would like to go to Mrs. Comen's class because I think we are doing a lab.
5. I will wait for a good photo opportunity and observe the classroom

Photo Manipulation and Ethics
The main points this website was making was that the ethics of photo manipulation is changing and there are so many things to pay attention to, like how you are editing a photo. The author states several examples about what the photographer did and what happened, and one of the photographers edited a photo to make the background look like it did in real life, but since it was changed so extremely they got fired because it went against the companies photo ethics. The author also stated that the ethics are still undecided, when it comes to universally (A).
The philosophy of New York Times and Washington Post regarding manipulation is that it shouldn't have to be original unless labeled so. They also stated that if it is journalism, which is where you shoot things as it is than you should edit it as little as you you can, but it is okay to manipulate an image if something fails you -camera screws up- and you want it to look like how the scene looked from memory. They do state that if you are trying to shoot something as it looks then you should edit it as little as possible, so that it is correct and true (B).
I think if all you're doing to the photo is making it look better, for example, if you were to change the clarity, exposure, or saturation then it is okay to photoshop it. I don't think it's okay to make someone look different or put someone in a different situation unless it is necessary or the person lets you. I think that should only be applied to those in the media business (C).
I think this photo is the most unethical because it is making the governor look like a different person then who she is. The people who distributed this photo didn't get consent from the governor and the photo could hurt her political career (D).
This photo originally had a brownish-gray background, but the photographer stated that he edited it to look like the original scene, but his camera failed him. I think that this is the least unethical photo because he stated the scene originally looked like how it did after editing. I think the manipulation, if what he said was true, is ethical and understandable because it is a good photo and the scene must have looked as good (E).

Great White and Black Photographers (Part 2)
Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams (Feb. 20 1902 - Apr. 22, 1984) was a photographer as well as an environmentalist. He was born in San Fransisco and attended Mrs. Kate M. Wilkins Private School as a child, which would be the equivalent of attending 8th grade. He became a piano player as his primary job by 1920. Ansel always loved nature and he loved the Golden Gate, for in his words, "colored and modulated by the great earth gesture" of the Yosemite Sierra. He later joined the Sierra Club and spent several summers in Yosemite Valley where he met his wife, Virginia Best. The Sierra Club posted his first photographs and writings in the club's 1922 Bulletin, and he had his first one man exhibition in 1928 at the club's San Francisco headquarters. He then continuously met photographers as he became well known to all and his style as well. He had art shows in New York and he met several photographers in New York however he did not climb up the financial ladder. He helped found the photography magazine Aperture and was contracted with the US Department of the Interior to make photos of national parks and was warded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980.

Peer Reflection
Carl's Blog:
The focus of Carl's photos are all good and on the main subject and the background is simple enough to make it easy to identify the subjects.
Atreus' Blog:
The focus on the subjects are extremely good, for my eye is immediately directed to the main subject and I can immediately tell that they match the prompt they were shot for.

Post Shoot Reflection
1. Some challenges I encountered were finding a good background that wasn't cluttered and finding a good subject.
2. The Main aspects of photography I focused on were focus and I would get close to the subject, like with the water fountain I got as close as I thought looked good.
3. If I could do this project again I would pay more attention to the background of the photo making sure that it is as simple as possible.
4. I would still focus on focus and lighting.
5. I am interested in only shooting the metal prompt again because I think I could find and shoot some really good looking stuff. I'm not interested in the other prompts because I had a hard time finding good photo opportunities of what I thought related to the prompt.

Prompt Shoot #1
Metal-
This photo follows the composition rule of Balance because the big lock is balanced out by the unfocused small lock in the background.
Happy-
This photo follows the composition rule of Simplicity because it is easy to tell what the subject is without getting distracted.
Square-
This photo follows the composition rule of Lines because there are lines that help focus/direct the viewers attention to the main subject, the light.
Bowie-
This photo follows the composition Rule of Thirds because the main subject is not in the middle of the screen.
