Final Review

1.

Pakistani lawyer throws a tear-gas shell back towards the police in Lahore during a protest against the state of emergency declared by President Pervez Musharraf.

Local business man, Kevin Ravanaugh, launches an attack on his business rival, Hector Laurence, by throwing tear gas in Hector's own home. Hector stole all of Kevin's clients putting Kevin out of business, making him bankrupt.

World renown chef, Chester Lomane, is baking a new form of pastry that does not have any sugar or calories. Chester used his new pastry and won the "ACF Pastry Chef of the Year" making him a 4 time champion of the pastry chef competition.



A blindfolded Palestinian arrested by Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip is brought to the Israeli side of the border near Kibbutz Kissufim.

New York Times' field reporter, Gregory Hutchingson, gains the trust of the Sinaloa Cartel to gain information of what they are doing. Gregory was sent down to Mexico in a small town to learn about the lives of the people, but due to the Sinaloa Cartel controlling the town he had to gain their trust to write his story.

  1. Rule of Thirds- Imagining a 3 by 3 grid and making sure the subject is along a vertical and horizontal line, but not in the middle.
  2. Balancing Elements- One or two objects that are proportional and/or equal 
  3. Leading Lines- A type of line that leads the viewers eyes through the photograph
  4. Symmetry and Patterns- A photo being able to be the same if half of it was under a mirror and/or if something repeats, normally in foreground, to make an appealing photo
  5. Viewpoint- The angle the camera is at
  6. Background- If the background is not disturbing
  7. Create Depth- Being able to spot the layers of the photo
  8. Framing- Something in the foreground that fashionably surrounds and/or is on the side of the main subject
  9. Cropping- Making sure the amount of non-subject space is correct to make a good photo
  10. Mergers and Avoiding Them- Something in the foreground or background that blends with the subject

3.

  • ISO- The sensitivity of the sensor. Affects noise/grain, and the exposure of a photo
  • Aperture- How much light the camera lets in. Affects depth and the exposure.
  • Shutter Speed- How long the camera records information of the scene. Affects whether or not something is frozen and the exposure

4.

It is not acceptable to edit an image to make it look like what was captured was not what the scene looked like.


5.

  • Environmental- Portrait of subject in their usual environment
  • Self- Photographer taking portrait of themselves usually showing their character or time usage
  • Casual- Portrait of subject in casual clothes or of their person in any form

6.

  • Exposure- The light-dark in a photo
  • Depth of Field- The amount of objects in a photo that are in focus
  • Focal Length- Basically the zoom of the camera. Distance between lenses and image sensor

7.

  • Image- Cover of magazines main focus is a photo
  • Illustration- Cover of magazine has drawings as focus
  • Type- Cover consists of either strictly text or mainly text
  • Concept- Usually a combination making a humorous cover
